1. General information
The main objective of this subject is to introduce the student to the methods and procedures of strategic territorial planning and the organization of the management of areas receiving tourism. It is designed to deepen the learning and to make a diagnosis of the current situation of an area, so that the student can demonstrate knowledge of the main elements of tourism planning in the context of sustainable development. In order to achieve this objective, different topics will focus on different methodologies and the use of basic sources for the assessment of the tourism potential of a territory in order to suggest management models. The approaches of this subject are oriented towards the achievement of SDGs 4, 8, 9, 12 and 13.

4. Academic activities
In the first class, the assessment criteria to be applied will be explained in detail, as well as the teaching methodology to be used in the theoretical and practical classes. There will also be a brief introduction to the contents to be covered in the different topics that make up the syllabus and to the guidelines of the practical work (project) to be developed.
Theoretical classes: In these classes, the teacher will explain the basic concepts of the subject. In the theoretical and conceptual master classes, teachers will use audiovisual material (power-point presentations, internet...) and case studies based on technical, audiovisual and graphic documentation. Student participation will be encouraged to discuss the most important contents analysed in each session.
Practical classes: in these classes, students will actively participate in the production of a project to formulate the basis of a proposal for the management and planning of a tourist area, in this case at the municipal level, as if it were a real planning process. It will be conducted at two levels, individual and in groups. It is intended that the student learns field work techniques and acquires the bases of knowledge for professional work in tourism territorial planning. The work will be supervised by the teacher.
In addition, field trips and conferences with invited experts will be organised. Students will be required to write a summary of the main conclusions of these presentations. There will also be seminars for the analysis and discussion of practical cases. All of the above will be communicated well in advance of the start of the academic year.
Tutorials: Tutorials will be individual and will be aimed at solving doubts related to the theoretical and practical contents of the program as well as the tutoring of assignments.
An addendum will be provided detailing all these aspects and the assessment system.
5. Assessment system
1- Continuous assessment: A written test will be carried out to evaluate the learning of the theoretical contents of the subject achieved by the student. Its result will represent 35% of the final grade. The following projects will be delivered and presented:
- Individual project: It will consist of the delivery of a work done in paper or digital format (according to the requirements that will be specified on the first day of class and will be included in the addendum) and its subsequent presentation with the support of Power-Point (15 minutes). It will account for 60% of the final grade (75% written work and 25% presentation).
- Group project: Preparation and presentation of a paper containing a general SWOT analysis of the region/territory in which the students have worked at the municipal level (individual), bringing together, after a consensual selection, the individual proposals that can form a coherent tourism product (5% of the final grade).
In addition to the content and its proper justification, the following criteria will be assessed: methodology, structure, organisation, presentation, linguistic and grammatical correctness, and order and clarity of exposition.
2.- Global test: students who do not opt for continuous assessment, do not pass the subject through continuous assessment or who wish to improve their grade are entitled to take the global test consisting of a written test to be held on the dates indicated in the calendar approved by the centre. A 35% of it will deal with the theoretical contents of the subject and a 65% with the practical contents.
